Network of European Restitution Committees

On January 1, 2019, the five commissions in Europe that deal with the research and return of cultural property that was confiscated due to Nazi persecution joined forces to form a network: the Beratende Kommission im Zusammenhang mit der Rückgabe NS-verfolgungsbedingt entzogenen Kulturguts, insbesondere aus jüdischem Besitz (Advisory Commission in connection with the return of cultural property confiscated due to Nazi persecution, in particular Jewish-owned , Germany), the Commission pour l'indemnisation des victimes de spoliations (France), the Spoliation Advisory Panel (Great Britain), the Restitutiecommissie (Netherlands) and the Commission for Provenance Research (Austria) have agreed to cooperate closely. The Commission pour l’indemnisation des victimes de spoliations (CIVS), which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019, will take over the management of the network for the first year.
